The Lumenis Q-Switched

Q Switch is the cosmetic laser of choice to reduce and eventually eliminate unwanted pigment that occurs in isolated spots. The Q Switched laser is effective at removing hyperpigmentation and discolorations of the skin including: age and brown spots, sun freckles, melasma, and dark tattoos.

How does it work?

The Lumenis® Q-Switch technology enables tailoring of the treatment according to the type of skin, to effectively target the dark pigment and destroy it. Ultrashort laser pulses target the treated area in the skin and break it into small particles that are naturally dissolved by your body; the surrounding skin is left intact. Features seven-spot sizes, which allows for eminently customized treatments and without downtime.

What should I expect?

After treatment, you may notice some redness and swelling in the treatment area. The surface skin won’t be damaged, the melanin in the sunspot and areas of pigmentation is what is targeted. A change in the color intensity of the treated skin may be visible immediately after the first treatment.

The number of needed treatments depends on the area of the body, skin color, and the pigmentation itself, and can start from 2-3 treatments and up to 10 in some cases. Treatments are typically spaced 6-10 weeks apart.
